Virginia Medicaid’s return to normal enrollment process, or “unwinding” continues with monthly reminders to members via email, text and robocalls.
Update contact information (mailing address and phone numbers) so you receive their renewal application.
Members should respond quickly to notices/renewal paperwork and provide any requested information.
Use your current Medicaid coverage and schedule preventive or delayed care appointments.
For Medicaid members who lose coverage, there is 90-day reconsideration period where you can submit any missing information to re-enroll in Medicaid without having to submit a new application.

It’s that time of year again when parents start thinking about what their kids need to return to school … supplies, wellness visits, vaccinations, dental checkups and more. Virginia Medicaid is coordinating with schools throughout the state to spread the word about free health insurance that is available for kids called FAMIS, or Family Access to Medical Insurance Security plan. A family of four can make as much as $61,500 and qualify for coverage. The services available to children are comprehensive and include:
Annual well checkups for babies, kids and teens
Prescription drugs
Shots
Doctor visits
Dental care
Mental health care
ER care
Vision care and glasses
Tests and x-rays
Hospital stays
And much more
If you know someone who could benefit from these services, encourage them to visit commonhelp.virginia.gov to apply, or coverva.dmas.virginia.gov for more information. They can also text SCHOOL to 268782 to sign up for updates.
